Hepatic Steatosis in Patients with Chronic Viral Hepatitis C Treated with Direct Acting Antivirals

چکیده

Abstract Hepatic steatosis is a frequent pathological finding in patients with chronic viral C infection (HCV) and can be independently associated increased alcohol consumption, type 2 diabetes, obesity hyperlipidemia. All these factors lead to the development of hepatic HCV. There are several noninvasive techniques scores used for diagnosing quantifying liver steatosis. Successful eradication HCV interferon-free treatment regimens has been suggested improve level The precise mechanisms responsible beneficial effects currently under investigation, but it thought that decrease inflammation replication contribute resolution Moreover, overall enhancement health metabolic may also have significant impact.

Prevalence of hepatic steatosis and associated factors in Iranian patients with chronic hepatitis C

Background: Hepatic steatosis is commonly observed in patients with chronic hepatitis C (CHC). Many studies indicate a relationship between steatosis and fibrosis progression. The aim of this study was to analyze the prevalence of hepatic steatosis and related factors in Iranian CHC patients.   Methods: One hundred and fifteen consecutive patients with CHC were enrolled which were treat...

Risk of hepatitis B reactivation in patients treated with direct-acting antivirals for hepatitis C

The recent introduction of direct-acting antiviral drugs (DAAs) for treatment of the hepatitis C virus (HCV) has greatly improved the management of HCV for infected patients. These viral protein inhibitors act rapidly, allowing HCV clearance and increasing the sustained virological response rates. However, hepatitis B virus (HBV) reactivation has been reported in HCV/HBV co-infected patients. H...

A Viral Dynamic Model for Treatment Regimens with Direct-acting Antivirals for Chronic Hepatitis C Infection

We propose an integrative, mechanistic model that integrates in vitro virology data, pharmacokinetics, and viral response to a combination regimen of a direct-acting antiviral (telaprevir, an HCV NS3-4A protease inhibitor) and peginterferon alfa-2a/ribavirin (PR) in patients with genotype 1 chronic hepatitis C (CHC). This model, which was parameterized with on-treatment data from early phase cl...

Mechanisms of Hepatitis C Viral Resistance to Direct Acting Antivirals

There has been a remarkable transformation in the treatment of chronic hepatitis C in recent years with the development of direct acting antiviral agents targeting virus encoded proteins important for viral replication including NS3/4A, NS5A and NS5B. These agents have shown high sustained viral response (SVR) rates of more than 90% in phase 2 and phase 3 clinical trials; however, this is sligh...

Liver decompensation predicts ribavirin overexposure in hepatitis C virus patients treated with direct-acting antivirals

AIM To determine whether ribavirin (RBV) concentrations differ according to cirrhosis stage among cirrhotic patients treated with interferon-free regimens. METHODS We included patients with hepatitis C virus and cirrhosis [Child-Pugh (CP) A or B], Glomerular Filtration Rate ≥ 60 mL/min, who started therapy with DAAs and weight-based RBV between October 2014 and February 2016. RBV plasma level...
